Twenty years of steady training eventually got her a C-rank. When her father passed away when she was twenty-six though, she stopped. She now uses her bending alleviative and recreationally only.

Ylva’s personality is a paradox; she is compassionate but can be cold, she is organised but in fact has no idea what she’s doing, she is selfless but a little independable. It’s like she has blood of all four nations flowing through her veins, but completely out of balance. At first glance, she is a true Airbender. She is great at small talk, showing interest and cracking jokes. But anything deeper than that, she tends to avoid. Maybe this ethereal trait does make her even more of an Air-resident. Like a social butterfly, but quickly fluttering from person to person, never able to truly connect. When she was younger, she used to be way more light-hearted and lively, but throughout the years, her work wore her down and she experienced some melancholic periods in which she disconnected herself and went full-on hermite to submerged in her writing. She became more unreliable and unpredictable. Something is inside of her, and she’s trying to oppress it. She knows her heart longs for more than what her element’s society can give her. After her father’s death she started rebelling more, looking down at the valley of the Earth Kingdom filled with desire.

Through her job as a nurse, Ylva has educated herself on a lot of medical knowledge. She knows a lot about healing herbs and injuries, and has an all-around clever understanding of lots of subjects. Besides knowledge, her head is always buzzing with ideas and new artworks. Maybe she could best be described as whirlwind amongst the gentle breezes of the Airbenders.

CHAPTER 1
Just like her family name predicted, Ylva was born an Airbender in a long line of them. When the newborn joined the family, the Nephelae’s eldest child became a brother. This was hard on him at first, but when he realised that he would be superior over his baby sister for the rest of his life, that he was no longer the youngest and least capable of the family, he came around. Maybe it was a good thing that he was though on her, because their parents where the most kind-hearted people ever to populate the Isles of the South. Their safe arms would comfort little Ylva whenever something upset her, to the point it didn’t matter to her when something upsetting would happen. She knew their arms would always be available. But happiness fluctuates, and soon there’d be no more parental warmth.

CHAPTER 2
Taking risks is a good idea when you have something under control. Beval Nephelae did not have things under control. But he took risks anyway. He was too young to know how to handle a flying bison and enraged one by accident when he tried to steal one of her calves. Ylva’s brother did not survive the attack. Their family crushed under the weight of this grief. His five-year old sister was too young to understand what had happened. Even more confusion came over her when her father left the household to become a monk in a northern temple, and her mother’s fruit pies and outstretched arms became less and less frequent. Moving to the north for a new start was exciting for Ylva, though.

CHAPTER 3
The third chapter of Ylva’s life consisted of winning her father's approval. Not that he was a distant kind of person, but because she had to show him the monastery could never outweigh the comfort of their home. She started practicing her airbending and after a while she really began enjoying herself. When the time had come for her to leave what was left of the nest, she chose a profession that somewhat fit the theme of her life; where she could take care of people and restore them to their old, familiar form. After Ylva started her training as a nurse, her mother was taken off guard by the sudden loneliness. There is only so much kindness a person can bare in their heart, even for Anila. She had seen her daughter grow up and decided there was nothing more the Air society could give her. One day, she descended the mountain to head for the Earth Kingdom. To Ylva, it was clear that her mother chose a different path and she didn’t try to reach out. Acceptance therapy and meditation was how her society had learnt her to deal with situations like these.

CHAPTER 4
Working as a trained nurse gave her a sense of freedom. She was at her happiest the following few years, and her life knew a routine it hadn’t ever before. However, the more knowledge on injuries and diseases Nurse Nephelae obtained, her connection to the spirituality her society had taught her found itself on a slippery slope -one that might even take her all the way down the mountain. She had seen too much to still believe everything could be fixed by believing in it. These people needed medicine and treatment, but wouldn’t accept it. And that would sometimes frustrate the hell out of her. This feeling grew even stronger when her father got sick. As the spiritual person he was, he believed whatever was meant to happen, would happen. Ylva tried to change his mind with might and main, but he wouldn’t listen. The only thing left for Ylva to do, was nurse her father and lead him to an easy death. Her broken heart forced her to distance herself from her work and airbending for a while, and at 26, she only really flew away.

CHAPTER 5
Stories. What wonderful things they were. During her travels, Ylva found herself hungry for legends and fairy tales, memories and history books. It boosted a creative side of her she never really uncovered. She decided to bundle the best stories any nomad could tell her, and word spread that a lady with red hair would put your story in a book if you told her your best one. She built a reputation amongst travellers and there would be days when all she’d do was listen. It was five years ago that her ’Historia Caeli - A collection of Air Nomad Folklore’ became ragingly popular. Since then she wrote a whole lot of other stories, but she has always been too critical of herself to publish most of them.

EPILOGUE
Her rebellion has not yet been subdued.
