character: the sweetest boy you'll ever meet - but also the naughtiest - loves to joke around - loves getting his way - dislikes water - can't swim - needs lots of love - and lots of attention - an angel - cutest giggle - very sensitive - easily upset - doesn't like it when others are sad or angry because of him - always tries to cheer others up by pulling faces or acting cute - loves his stuffed dragon (koinu) to death - can be a little manipulative to get what he wants - trains hard, sometimes too hard (once he gets old enough to train) - lots and lots of tantrums - wants to have more friends than he can count (which would be more than four)

with a father from the fire nation and a mother from a nomad water tribe, life was never easy for kokoro. he grew up with his mother's small tribe that consisted of no more than six people who were all family - hardly to be considered a 'tribe' at all - and with a lot of judgement. his nomad family treated him fine enough, but whispered about him behind his back. what would happen if the boy turned out to be a fire bender? it would bring havoc to their small nomad family, they decided, and if it turned out to be true, kokoro would be banished. his mother tried fighting for her son, but was given a warning; if she didn't let it be, she would be banished with him. and no matter how much she loved her son, she loved the rest of her family more. she too was, after all, a bit scared of her own son. a few weeks after the boy turned four, he sneezed some fire. his life then changed forever. the waterbender nomads took him to the border of the fire nation, dropped the boy off near a caravan of fire soldiers, and left. they all had tried not to grow too close to the boy, because there had been such a big chance of this happening. it seemed it worked well enough.

kokoro was found after a few hours of non-stop crying, and was presented to the highest rank in the caravan, ryuu, who took pity on the boy. when the search for his parents was in vain, he took him in, to raise him as his own son.
